NIWA is developing a suite of sophisticated, high-resolution online weather forecasting and information products, collectively called NiwaForecast, which will help New Zealanders plan their weather-dependent business and leisure activities.
This is a catalog of major weather events in New Zealand over the last 200 years. The information has been collated from newspaper reports, journals, books and databases kindly provided by various organisations and individuals.
The NIWA Invertebrate Collection (NIC) holds specimens from almost all invertebrate phyla. This is a result of about half a century of marine taxonomic and biodiversity research in the New Zealand region, the South West Pacific and the Ross Sea, Antarctica.
To access NIWA’s Satellite Imagery Services you must either be a registered user or provide us with credit card details for a one-off transaction. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Bankcard. Normally we expect to bill users once a month to a credit card account, but we are prepared to send monthly invoices to major customers instead. Provided all the required information, including credit card details, is submitted via the registration page, you may access any of our products immediately.
NIWA's Urban Runoff Quality Information System (URQIS) provides planners, engineers and researchers with information about the quality of stormwater from different locations and landuses and under different flow conditions.
